I did not expect to learn this much in a short period of time, especially being a senior I thought I knew a lot about American politics, but this perspective on young people was incredibly beneficial and super thought–evoking.
-
The class course was explored in great detail and the course was studied in diverse perspectives that helped understand the course objectives extremely well.
-
I really enjoyed the class and the assigned reading, they were so interesting and beneficial!

Professor Patrick was an exceptional teacher to learn a course from. He was always well prepared for all classes and had an outline prepared that would help direct the discussions in a class. The classes were well divided into lectures and discussion that would encourage input from everyone. Though the course was specified on the role of young people in American politics, the professor was well able to expand the discussions having international students in class so that they would feel included. The professor was highly encouraging and respected everyone's opinion; he was always enthusiastic about hearing everyone's perspectives that allowed inclusive discussions. I definitely felt that my participation and interest in course accelerated over the time due to the welcoming personality of the professor who made me and ideas feel included. He was always available for extra discussions (in–person/ email) and would encourage discussing students' work in order to guide them and help them through any challenges. Overall it was a great experience and I immensely enjoyed studying the course from him; he is one of the best professors I have studied from. I would highly recommend studying from him for I would definitely do that again if I got the opportunity.

Amazing professor with great feedback, I hope I was in D.C. to take another class!

·You were great, I want you to teach a more challenging class though. Gov gets boring sometimes because it's common sense and it's like a baseline if that makes sense? I think your teaching style is better for a class that has a little more nuance and more grey area, but is still related to the basics. I think the class you'll teach soon will be better, let's see know how it goes< I hope you become a professor. If admin is reading this LET HIM COOK

Professor McSweeney was always looking to find ways to better help us with our papers and study for our exams. He wanted to make sure we were learning the most we could and putting that learning into well written work.

TA Evaluations

"Patrick was a great TA! He always led an interesting discussion, and I appreciated how easy it was to set up office hours. I really valued his help with the analysis papers, especially with finding appropriate sources. Overall, he was a great addition to my experience in this class."

Patrick did an excellent job of outlining the most important takeaways from the broader readings and class lectures. He always discussed the most significant themes of each week and made sure everyone was able to contribute their own thoughts on the issues. He was also super helpful in preparing us for the quizzes and frequently sent syllabi for each week's discussion hours prior. Lastly, whenever I reached out to him with questions he responded SUPER quickly.

Patrick did a good job preparing us for the reading quizzes each week and was always a friendly and approachable presence. He was easily accessible in office hours and I felt very comfortable asking him questions about the course. I think Patrick also did a great job instilling humor into the material and trying to get students engaged. Overall, Patrick was a really great TA and I'm glad I was in his section!

Patrick did a great job communicating the material and leading conversations. He was very patient and made sure we stayed on topic with discussion. His feedback was very helpful and made difficult topics much easier to understand.

Best TA I've ever had hands down, is probably already a better teacher than a decent amount of professors here.

My TA treated everyone with respect and asked questions without pressuring students unnecessarily.
Patrick was definitely open and understanding to different viewpoints, and he made an effort to include everyone in conversation. He also tried to see how we would best learn from him by asking if we would rather larger group conversations or break out rooms. He was very accommodating and including to all students in the session.
